They both spoke a love language to each other that others could clearly see. Kathy did a great job painting the picture of friendship turning to love. She takes you on a transformation journey with Lex and Joni as their relationship evolves from caterpillars turning into beautiful butterflies of love.I enjoyed A Baby Between Friends, but it became redundant with the back and forth between Joni and Lex regarding the one night they shared and their holding back of their true feelings. However, it is an overall enjoyable good read.

With the next book in her Sweet Briar Sweethearts series, Kathy Douglass delights her reader with a return to Sweet Briar where small town living is personified. The characters are well-developed and intriguing, and the story line of an unexpected pregnancy between best friends is the shining star. Emotional, charming and oh so satisfying!Joni Danielson had no idea that asking her best friend to pretend to be her boyfriend for a wedding she had to attend would turn their lives upside down. They're back home and further apart than they've ever been because a few pretend kisses turned into real passion ... passion he regretted the next morning. She's keeping her distance and stewing in her hurt and anger ... until she discovers she's pregnant!Mayor Lex Devlin adores Joni and just can't understand why she's so mad at him. Yes, he crossed a line he shouldn't have, but shouldn't they just be able to forget about it and continue their friendship? He's tried love & marriage before and it just didn't work out ... but hearing they have a baby on the way has him wondering if he needs to give it another try.

This is my first time reading a book by this author and it will not be my last. The storyline of friends to lovers is one of my favorites to read. To see if it is better to be friends first before going into a romantic relationship. The characters were well developed and you can feel their emotions as you read. Joni and Lex became good friends by hanging out with each other while having a platonic friendship. Joni was hurt in a past relationship and was asked to be in a friend’s wedding and she knew her ex-boyfriend would be attending also. So Joni asks Lex to be her pretend boyfriend and accompany her to the wedding so she could look like she has moved on from ex-boyfriend. After the wedding reception things went a little further than expected between Joni and Lex, now month and a half later Joni is pregnant.I don’t want to give the whole story away, so I recommend this book to read and see what happens between Joni and Lex.Does Joni keep the baby? Does she even tell Lex he is going to be a father? Will they become more than Friends or Frienemies?I received this book for an voluntary honest review.Cassandra H.

A Baby Between Friends is a very catchy title, it grabbed my attention from the title. I was eager to find out what led these two friends to a place where they are now having a baby. I am not sure if there was a book before this one leading up to that marvelous weekend where these two become friends with benefits, the author gave just enough back story for me to feel comfortable to go ahead and read this story.It was a very good Friends to Lovers trope, I enjoy these type of stories because you learn a lot of what not to do when they are trying to find their way to each other. In my opinion this story line was based on poor communication between the characters which happens a lot in this day and time. So many of us are scared to express our feelings to each other. I love how Joni wanted to be independent and did not want to rely on Lex but was also able to realize to accept help when she needs it.
